Clear Communication Isn't the Goal

Clear communication as a goal isn't enough, because, clearly, that frequently fails.  Often, somebody is confused, despite our best preparation, passion and volume.  The goal of our communication should be to minimize confusion.  That takes away the feelings for defensive frustration when misunderstood ("I can't believe they didn't get it"), and puts us on the offensive, asking "how might this be confusing?" and "how might they be confused?".
